OFA Level 1 Course
Course Description
A basic first aid course but one that will teach you and give you the opportunity to practice your life saving skills. The course is a one day/7-hour WorkSafe BC course covering the essential ABC’s – airway, breathing and circulation. Including how to deal with obstructed airways, breathing distress and control of bleeding including tourniquet use. One person CPR (Adult) with AED use, minor wound care and records / reports are also part of the course.
All courses are taught by certified WorkSafe BC Occupational First Aid Instructors many of whom have had years of hands-on first aid experience but also many years of adult instructional experience.
Course Completion
Students must attend 100% of the course, demonstrate skills successfully throughout, and pass a final 25 question examination.
Upon successful completion students will be issued a WorkSafe BC Occupational First Aid Level 1 certificate and a CPR ‘A’ certificate, both with a three (3) year expiry.

Prerequisites
No medical pre-reqs, however
all participants must be a:
– VIHA employee AND,
– A designated first aid attendant
for their facility
